Any based books to recommend for current times?

The "atheist" factor in this scenario is irrelevant. Anyone who is bribed, blackmailed, coerced or forced in any manner, or enticed by any means to subvert a people, clearly has morals that allow that type of behavior. Atheism is not a religion. There isn't any doctrine that forbids this behavior, nor any other, but there are no literal rules against cannibalism in the bible. You're permitted. Why don't you? Because it takes more than not being forbidden to do something that goes so viciously against humanity. You have to be damaged or twisted to be so evil. Atheism could apply to any religious person's views toward any person who doesn't choose to accept the story that there's a god, or more importantly, everything else that comes with some human's interpretation of what that god should be, or who they demand he is.
