The answer is america wasted billions in the ME, and this made them curtail f22 production. Now there is a capability gap while older f15's are being retired, and the f47 program is a long way off. Therefore they not only use, but are procuring new f15ex jets.

The F-15E strike eagles that have been shot down are not air superiority platforms, they are multi-strike fighters just like the f-35, that retain excellent dogfight capabilities they are not invincible and with such a crappy administration in charge of them that is no longer coordinating with their middle eastern allies are just as susceptible to poorly planned operations and friendly fire as they are to enemy air defense trump should fire the defense secretary for this mess and put someone competent in charge
