Pretty sure those are penetration aids. IE, decoys. Only one of them is real, but the defense systems have to try to guess which one. i mean it's a pretty obvious hack. interceptor missles are designed to take out a single target. it's basically like a giant chaff/flare burst that falls with the main payload and is impossible to differentiate. the only way to defend against this would be to intercept it before it seperated, which would be next to impossible if its designed for a high altitude detonation. i don't even know how you would conceptually counter this.
