This is how houses should be built, but it's illegal in all states except Arizona and New Mexico due to big corpos who won't profit off of it and building code.

A Rammed Earth house is like a solar battery. It slowly absorbs heat during the day and then disperses it into the house at night. Then it'll recharge the next day to repeat the cycle.
>>
>>530061032
Or just use brick walls on a concrete frame you subhuman piece of shit.

Just what I want in Arizona, my house to absorb heart

Modern bricks, something a subhuman mutt has never seen, have big holes inside them like one of your cinder blocks.
The air acts as insulation, definitely better and also sturdier and more fire resistant than the plywood shack you live in.
Eastern Europe owns your Anglo asses when it comes to making houses how the fuck
>>
>>530061662
Very, it becomes like concrete. Rammed Earth is dirt, sand, clay, and gravel. When it's tamped down, it becomes compacted and becomes a solid form. I've seen some videos where they use a little concrete too (perhaps if the soil isn't rich in clay), but historically rammed earth buildings have last thousands of years.

We build houses with bricks here. They're shit compared to these 'mud hut' type houses. I don't know what they're actually called, but I stayed in a similar kind of house in Italy once and despite it being 33 degrees outside it felt like it was 10-15 inside, nice and cool. In Australia if it's 33, you'll feel like it's 33 inside as well.

Rammed Earth construction is surprisingly resilient against earthquakes. The thickness gives it, high compressive strength, strong shear resistance, and large inertia against deformation
>>

Best weight to insulation/sturdiness ratio is against code? But building a 4 story block out of plywood is perfectly legal? Hahahahahahaha
>>
>>530061880
How about how well they take a bullet then, it they're essentially just very compacted bullet stoppers (sand, clay, gravel)?
Any real tests ever done on them to determine penetration depth/completeness vs caliber?
Could these have potentials for being relatively lower cost defensive structures/"safer"roomers for civilians who aren't part of the illegitimate breakaway MIC corporatocratic shadow government and epstein-class, and therefore who don't have the connections or funds for state-of-the-art safe-rooms, bunkers and MIC protections?

It's because the soil outside that area is only suitable for cobb construction instead. And those states haven't petitioned for the relevant changes required to their building codes.

>What happens when it rains?
It sheds off the rough. During the one month of the year when it rains.
>>530063004
Yeah, it only works in Airzona and New Mexico because the soil there can be rammed into a solid mass. It won't work in many other places without that soil composition. Not sure why it isn't more common in Nevada though. Rober Redford owns the entire half of Utah where it could be viable.

No it isn't, it just doesn't have explicit code provisions, so you need to ensure it meets code requirements yourself. Meaning, there is no "must be X inches thick" in the code, so you need to ensure that you find out how think the wall needs to be and make it that thick.
>A Rammed Earth house is like a solar battery. It slowly absorbs heat during the day and then disperses it into the house at night.
That is not useful in most of the country. It works well in arizona and new mexico, where average daily temps are comfortable. In north dakota you will freeze your balls off and have insane heating bills. Also brick, stone and concrete all do this just fine.

You wouldn't because you're fucking poor apparently. I'll take all reinforced concrete thanks. You can use aerated bricks (super gay) no matter what the underlying building material is so not sure what point you're making. Sorry, I just prefer walls that someone can't simply dig through to get in. It's even less work...you just pour it in the forms and don't have to pay some spic to pack it down for hours.

Wrong.

There is not enough sunlight per day to significantly heat up a huge mass like that, and it loses whatever little heat it gained night.
That's why structures with a lot of mass stay at consistent temperatures throughout day and night.
For example: Big ass solid wood houses in scandinavia stay consistenty warm in winter, and big ass stone and adobe buildings in the mediterranean stay consistenly cool in summer.

Mass = passive temperature regulation.
The HVAC and heating industries hate this trick, and thus housing regulations and HOA will not allow it. You must live in paper thin houses with heaters and air conditioners.

In my city the downtown residential scene is either apartment buildings or houses built in the 1950s. To counter the suburban sprawl their brilliant idea was to allow "infill housing" which is to take a normal size lot and split it up into tinier lots and allow small/compact homes with higher density to be built. You have pic related cube houses popping up all over the place as a result and these things are over 500,000 dollars.
The picrel isn't even the worst example either some of them look like mini apartment buildings in an area of single family homes and it's just so jarring.

R value is a bad approximation for insulation. U value as well. Because none of them include thermal mass, which has a very big impact on insulation and heating costs (or the lack of it). They stopped building monolithic massive stone/brick walls after WWII because it was cheaper. But of course, then the energy crisis hit and then they figured that houses needed better insulation even though the old style houses with thermal mass already did.
Then they jewed us even more with building codes and plastic insulation.
You know why they don't come up with an approximation to calculate ACTUAL heat losses? Based on REAL energy demands? Because they would have to include thermal mass and Big Insulation doesn't want that. Or humanity is acktually retarded

It makes more challenging to build with it, sure, but all you need is a raised foundation, good drainage system around, a longer roof, and you need to water seal the wall at least on the exterior.

I don't know how much all that would cost over there, but here even after doing all of this it can still be much cheaper than a cheap brick house

No insulation or cover is 100% moisture proof. Even if it's just the humidity from the air or you breathing out, some of it will diffuse through the material and into the concrete over time, and that will freeze and expand leading to micro-cracks. Unless you live in a desert with practically zero humidity, rebar is a product with a timer. And if you live in Canada where it's very humid and cold half the year, good luck.

They don't want us asking for stone houses because they don't remember how to make them.

Mexican slave labor knows how to build plywood McMansions, so everything else is curtailed to make plywood McMansions seem like the one and only answer.

There are a shit ton of old cities in Brazil build using rammed earth due to Portuguese influence

Couldn't you just dig half-moons so the water has somewhere to collect and you'll get nice foliage and a dry place to walk too?

I don't know how they call them in other regions but where I live this type of house is known as Casa de Vó, or grandma's house

>A Rammed Earth house is like a solar battery. It slowly absorbs heat during the day and then disperses it into the house at night. Then it'll recharge the next day to repeat the cycle.

In theory.

You could use a garden hose to erode a hole.
>>
>>530071223
No, that's mostly rammed earth, it's just coated and painted over

Ouro Preto is the name of the place and has nothing to do with the building technique, retard. MODERN houses are built with brick, some of the old ones were made from natural stone. But the center of Ouro Preto, and specially the most historical buildings were built mostly using rammed earth technique.

that's true but it's also true that the plywood mcmansions are cheaper to build. Although monolithic houses are more sustainable in the long run

First floor is stone all the way to the ceiling, second floor is wattle and daub, between floors theres wood beams.
You can´t do multi-floor rammed earth constructions, the second floor would "slide" away from the first floor.

Essentially the problem is that theyre too durable. Most people want stupid useless houses with garbage amenities that need to be torn down in 70 years and replaced with a completely new design because all of the fad designs in their house have rotated out of style. And no one wants to tear down an entire neighborhood of rammed earth houses.
