>>530063336No, in general you don't want to strike your way out of a grappling situation, you can't get good force or leverage when your legs are being controlled, especially to strike somebody who's on one side of you with your opposite hand, the punch would have no power and the target can hide his body behind your body. Also, trying to get in position to strike means you're not doing anything about the bodylock, so you're making it much easier for the guy grabbing you to successfully slam you. What he should have done was move his hips in literally ANY direction, tried to step out or step in or step around, anything would have been a good move. Mostly, you should just know how to grapple if you're going to go into the bodyguard business. You should know how to grapple, you should know how to strike, and you should know how to deal with weapons. You shouldn't have a gap in your training that makes you helpless in a very common combat situation, i.e. being grabbed. If you don't want to learn how to grapple, you should go be a salesman or a grocery clerk or something where grappling isn't 1/3rd of your job. That's just my opinion. You don't need to be a blackbelt . . . or a brown belt, or a purple belt . . . to get out of a bodylock takedown. That should be something you learn how to do in the first month of training literally ANY grappling style, and that's because bodylock takedowns are pretty basic and pretty ubiquitous in grappling, if you can't handle a basic technique from a guy half your size who is not even doing it right, literally figuring it out as he goes, you're DEFINITELY in the wrong fucking business.
