It's a "secret society" that's based on ephemeral qualities like virtue and character. What they really want is monthly/yearly dues. Freemasons do a lot of hob knobbing , and their meetings follow the same format as any political or corporate board meeting. If freemasons would be founded now it would just be a toastmasters or some sort of professional networking club. But this group has been around for a long ass time. Freemasons may run the world but it's almost trivial to subvert and coopt a local lodge. Many,many other similar "secret societies" also got their start through free masonry. If people were smart they'd just create their own cooler form of free masonry. And a lot of them did. Either way I hear a lot about Freemasonry on here but nothing about scientology and they operate on the same model and principles.
