The dogs would regularly take themselves for walks with the cats (cats would literally stand on their backs and balance as the dogs walked) along the quiet road and there have never been issues with them, they don't bark or annoy people. Be wary of dog people. They have difficulty, often inability, forming genuine emotional connection. All they know is control. And they will try to train you to follow their commands. It's just that human commands are a bit more complex.
