Did you know a train ride on the most ghetto busted train you've ever seen in your life costs $150+ in USA?
>>
>>530175816
How much is a medium pizza there? Is it $20 like here?
>>
>>530177295
We got a nationwide weekend multi ticket valid till 6am Monday for ~13.10 USD. It's adventure time!

We have restaurant carts instead. Just eat over your stress.

there should be carts for smokers...

>>
>>530182760
You can smoke at train stops. Can't you really wait 15-30 minutes between stops?

Alcohol is generally very expensive in Norway for harm reduction reasons, but its like €12 for a 0.5l beer at bars and restaurants. Beer at the grocery store is cheaper, like €3.5 for a 0.5l beer.
>>
>>530175816
a medium pizza is like 250 miles of gas in my car...maybe live in a country with mountains? if it was even a good mountain in the first place, a train wouldn't even be able to get up.
>>
>>530183932
25 PLN for a medium pizza? In your shithole maybe. In major cities plain margharita is 50+ now.

the swiss company stadler built a hydrogen powered train
it made the guiness record for longest nonstop drive
the only place it's gonna be deployed in the usa is california who are more hydrogen oriented than other states
>>
>>530183965
Here in Europe we can build train tracks that can go into the mountains.
>>
>>530184067
>hydrogen powered train
That's fucking retarted. Trains are powered from their own powerlines all the way. They alreasy run on electricity for fucks sake!
>>
>>530184009
>in major cities
Found your issue.
>>
>>530184076
The reality is you're coping. If you really liked trains, you would just ride them and be happy. You are envious of cars. I don't even think about trains.
>>
>>530184126
>that's fucking retarded
Why? Doesn't need cables. Let them cook anon.

it shows the power and superiortiy of hydrogen compared to other fuels
>>
>>530184213
The cables are already there and making hydrogen uses more electricity than running the train directly. It's solar freaking roadways all over again!
>>
>>530184258
But nigga, you power thevtrain directly from the power line above the train.
>>
>>530184290
true but you can apply the technology to other fields (planes, ships, cars, houses)
>>
>>530175816
You are aware that public transport in most countries isn't homogeneous or simply put white-only and it's fucking nightmare?
>>
>>530184354
You have to use a lot of electricity to get hydrogen. It's retarded really if you think about hydrolysis fir a moment.
>>
>>530184387
Maybe they need train security like polish SOK?
>>
>>530184188
Truth is, we enjoy a hybrid of using private and public transportation.
For example if I want to travel for tourism reasons - looking for parking spots in a city is a hassle, I'd rather travel via public transportation. You can also grab a beer and chill the fuck out instead of getting pissed off in traffic.

On the other hand using public transportation to get to my workplace is more trouble than it's worth it and makes the commute longer so I just drive there.
>>
>>530184266
Maybe they will improve the tech.
Things seem retarded until they aren't. So long as they don't force us to use them I say we let em cook.

It's physics 101 damn it. To extract hydrogen from a bonded state you need to use energy. If you can't find a free source of hydrogen, it makes no sense.
>>
>>530184498
you generate electricity anyway and if you don't store it it goes to waste and hydrogen is the perfect carrier
some math, with 2kw input power you can generate 1kg of hydrogen per day at home
that's 1 ton of hydrogen with a single wind turbine generating 2mw on average
the merecedes f-cell uses 0.34kg for 100km
>>
>>530184805
Yo they used to say the same about sailing west to find India. In the end they didn't find what they were looking for but got something better instead. Give em time.
>>
>>530176152
Not true.

Trains you can bring whatever luggage for free. You can arrive 10 minutes before a train. You stay on ground, no loss of connection. You have restaurants/cafes etc. on a train. Your seating has infinitely more comfortable and spacious chairs, with multiple power outlets on trains. On trains you also have a much smoother ride. When exiting you just pick up your luggage and move on, no chance of operator losing your luggage or delaying it. Lastly, as trains are cheaper, a lot of people would rather pay the penalty of travel time on very long distance trips than not travel at all due to airplane costs, allowing more mobility.

So, in conclusion, if your trip with the airplane is less than 2 hrs and there's a high speed train option available, the train will always be worth it, more so if you want to save on luggage.
>>
>>530175816
>Cars can not compete with this level of freedom.
That's the stupidest thing I've read on here today (that's saying a lot with all the Iran shills). A train can only go where there's rails. A car can go damned near anywhere. You want to be driven and drink, hop on a bus. Trains wish they could go where buses go.
>>
>>530176152
just because your terrain is thick fucking unstable jungle doesn't mean the rest of us can't have nice things.
>>
>>530185045
cars are limited to roads, too. unless you have an offroader
take a bike with you on your train ride and you can go anywhere

Yea, you probably don't have gypsies. Over here our railway infrastructure was left to rot and the public didn't bat an eye because there were always gypsies in our trains. There was only one account in our history when people were actually happy to see gypsies loaded up in trains.
>>
>>530184827
Hydrogennis not "perfect" because it wants to gescape into the atmosphere and is highly explosive.
>>
>>530187638
you can bind it to magnesium and store it as a powder at ambient pressure and temperature
add water if you want to release the hydrogen
and of course it's explosive, it's a fuel
>>
>>530188034
pure magnesium is also explosive
>>
>>530188586
the magnesium hydride is turned into a paste-like material, like toothpaste
it's safe to store and to handle and has a higher energy density than compressed or cryo cooled liquid hydrogen

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnTp3PbXza8

after release of the hydrogen the leftover magnesiumhydroxide sludge can be collected and recycled and made into new paste
