You can make a strong architectural and symbolic case that the former World Trade Center Twin Towers felt more imposing and visually dominant than today’s One World Trade Center. For one, the Twin Towers created a paired monolith effect that amplified their presence. Two identical 110 story towers rising together made the skyline feel monumental and deliberate. The symmetry created a visual wall of steel and glass that dominated Lower Manhattan. Because both towers were enormous and nearly identical, they multiplied the psychological scale of the complex. Architecturally, it felt less like a single skyscraper and more like a colossal gateway or fortress of commerce. One tower can be impressive. Two towers of the same height and shape feel civilizational.
>>530339715yeah but they were half empty
>>530339885you mean half full
>>530339715>110 story11 at most
America isn't dominant. It is weak and pathetic.
>>530339937
>>530339715the right architectural decision would have been to bring back the two towers as ghostly imprints made from light and air by cutting out the towers as negative space from inside an even more triumphantly massive tower.
>>530339715The way the original WTC fit into the skyline was much better, but the buildings had far too much office space and extremely shit interiors. People keep talking about them like they were monuments, but they were supposed to turn a profit and as an investment they didn't perform well (unless you're Larry) so there was no desire to rebuild.
1WTC is not a terrible-looking building. All it needs is another one next to it now that a newer design was "gone with". Only problem is you'd have to tear down the memorial
>>530341561IF you think about it, buildings are actually most appealing when looking at the outside. Its difficult to imagine those towers having enough wage slaves to fill them up every day. Where did they park their cars? When did they mass transit from?
>>530339885All high rise buildings are half empty. That's why the stories of Chinese fake cities always made me laugh. Hell, I went to a hotel downtown and noticed that the 30 story hotel was only occupied to the 15th. I asked an employee about it and he took me up to the 16th-30th. They were all completely vacant and had been since at least the early 70s judging by the colors, and carpet. I toured a building a long time ago, over 3.5 million square feet. Full facilities and maintenance department. Laboratories in the basement, offices all over, all super nice and modern. Completely vacant.
>>530339715Of course. That's why Trump wanted to rebuild the exact same towers just taller. Liberals made fun of him at the time but he was right.
>>530345883lmaothis actually makes sense
>>530346128if that was him, he was most certainly right
>>530339715They’re going to build a second one retard
>>530346128I didn't know he said this. I've been saying the same thing since I watched it happen.
>>530339715experiencing the Venturi effect between the trade centers was cool
>>530339937At 50% capacity
>>530339715>Architecturally, it felt less like a single skyscraper and more like a colossal gatewayBecause they symbolically were and destroying them was also a symbol. It's an homage to the destruction of the First Temple. There's another major event that was an homage to the destruction of the Second. And it's all to ritualistically herald in the construction of the Third. All things thrive at thrice.
