I make fuck all money, but every home costs a minimum of $400 a week. By global standards I'm in one of the least densely populated areas there is, and yet I'm gonna have to look for a fucking room in a share house. If a farmer could spend $50k putting down a trailer home and hooking it up to power, installing a water tank and septic system, then rent it out for $250 a week he'd make back his initial investment in 4 years. That's a crazy return compared to traditional property, although you don't get the equity gain that traditional property sees. But nah we can't do that here. The freedom to live wherever and how you want, is one of the few things I envy about America. Here in the Netherlands the population density is so insane that we're all packed together like rats. Getting your own plot of land to live somewhere is completely impossible. Even if you somehow could afford a piece of land, you wouldn't be able to build a house on it or even live in a tent on it, because that plot of land isn't designated for living. You can't just fuck off and live in an RV either, because you by law need to be always be registered to a home address and you're not allowed to sleep in your own car in public places, except for certain designated parking spots at gas stations.I wish I could just plop a mobile home down in a forest somewhere like you Americlaps.

During COVID a bunch of people fled the cities and it jacked up the prices of houses and land in all those places like Zeeland, Gelderland, etc. (plus the housing market in general continues to be terrible). A plot of land or a suburban home are just as expensive there as anywhere else in the country now (more or less).Even outside of that, Americans still have ten times more freedom when it comes to living. You can park an RV in somewhere in the wilderness and as long as it's not private property you can do whatever the fuck you want, no questions asked.
