With oil becoming more expensive and every country had has their own supply holding on to it for themselves instead of exporting it, it seems likely to make that global trade overall will grind to a half, but poorer countries that can't afford to pay their way through it will starve. The place that really seems set up to suffer is India. It has way too many people and way too small a space to be food self sufficient. If global trade stops and the food imports stop flowing, how long could that concentrated a population possibly last before it becomes a starvation crises? China and the US will be in trouble too, but they have the infrastructure to weather such a crises even if it will be expensive and unpleasant. I don't see how India can, though.
