Iran mined the Strait of Hormuz. How fucked is the world economy on the scale between "absolutely fucked" and "apocalypse fucked" if the war doesn't end in the next few days?

Hopefully, apocalypse fucked. World needs a total restart. Like clean slate, stone age restart.
>>

Money is worthless. Biblical fuck.
>>
>>530423559
They have over 5000 mines. As it stands about 1000 have been deployed already. Do you even understand how hard it is to remove them? its almost impossible and many of them are with remote detonation. This whole fucking thing is getting worse by the day.
>>
>>530423692
Does your turkish brain realize mining the strait would also fuck China, which is something they don't want?
>>
>>530423457
The economy will readjust in a few months and everything will go on as normal, but with all prices across the board higher for everyone.

Depends on where you are. Europe is moderately fucked. Asia is very fucked. Except for China who are merely inconvenienced. India is probably a little fucked, depending on the current status of Russian oil sanctions. Russia is partying hard because they are making bank.

The only one truely fucked are Japan and the US. Japan gets 95% of its oil via Hormuz. The US has entered the Empire death spiral.

Europe and US very fucked economically because of oil and fertilizer shock. Africa and Asia could have famine and unrest so it could spiral to worse globally.
>>
>>530423829
I think it serves their interest more to fuck over the US. Keeping the strait closed fucks over the already struggling US economy. It might even be their best strategy to keep inflicting economic damage to the US until we either hit another recession and have to call it quits or we impeach Trump.
>>
>>530424093
Europe always has the option to tell Ukraine to end the war and take the territorial L. Then get oil from Russia.
They don't want to, but the option exists.

EU is scheduled to be Russian energy free next year. But as it standa, the US might have fucked that up.

Maybe this is a dumb question to ask but would that have a downstream affect on the carry trade?

Grok, is this real?

They are sending their navies to claim that they "helped" and for rescue operations. mostly to intercept further strikes on Cyprus and the surrounding areas, because the US radars got shanked

>back to normal
Hundreds of millions of people will lose their jobs around the world due to lower demand.
Recession is basically inevitable in that condition. No government in the world can print more money this time.

There's no "back to normal".

problem with ships in general is they are expensive to run and maintain and have to be re-supplied with expensive ammo so its not really an effective anti air solution in modern drone warfare. its throwing billions against dirtbikes
>>
>>530424521
Im no expert on the carry trade, but oil prices rising will probably trigger inflation, which is potentially good for the carry traid in theory.
However, in the context of the world economy, and this is an event with global impact, the carry trade might die if markets crash.
The goal of Iran is to trigger the next financial crisis. And once everyone wants their debts serviced, the carry trade will collapse
>>
>>530424913
they are probably out there with the radar ships, and appropriate protection. not to shoot down drones
>>
>>530423457
hopefully we start pivoting towards green renewable energy or nuclear or whatever the fuck doesn't make us dependant on the sultans after this
probably not though.

I hope they pop the AI bubble. Bomb some datacenters while they are at it.
Ruin the psychopaths that want to destroy middle class jobs.
>>
>>530425096
not going to happen. renewables are gay liberal shit. thats why the EU does that.
Seriously tho, I don't think that your energy grid can handle a pivot towards renewables. It will probably be a long term strategy, but it wont happen for at least one generation.
Whatever states start adapting sooner will be at an advantage. But the genral push towards renewables within the US is tiny compared to the rest of the globe. you missed the trend

The bank of Japan just tried that and the markets were panicing. So if inflation makes them go down again, thats good for the carry trade
>>

Why would Inflation make the interest rates go down?

>America is a net exporter of oil. We wouldn't care. It actually benefits us.
So why is the price of gasoline going up? Plus its not just oil, the prices of pretty much everything that gets shipped, which includes most of our groceries, is going up because its costing more to transport those. So im not sure who will benefit from having to pay more for gas and groceries; most definitely not the people going to vote in midterms.
