canuck here and i also struggle with anxiety but only around sleep. i only sleep a few hours a night at most and think i'm going to choke or die and start monitoring all the bodily sensations which obviously blocks any fucking sleep i would be able to get if i wasn't as wired. i take trazodone for sleep but it barely works now. went to the doc and a few other specialists and they recommend an anti depressant to take daily but i don't fucking care about what happens during the day, i just want to sleep

I also feel a sense of peace, when I ponder things that expand my ideas of reality, and when I learn about things that give me a sense there are terrotories left unexplored, perhaps beyond this place I'm in now. It comforts me though I wonder if it's missplaced. Judging by things you've said in this thread you could certainly do for less inundation with news and all that. You've seen what it does and you know it won't eventually bring anything good so I'd certainly clear out the mental overload and give youself a quite place for prayer and mental and spiritual sobriety, to the degree you can. Taking walks in nature is something that sounds obvious but it really does help and everything in there will keep your mind from wandering into bad places so if you can, you could try this. You will find more peace there, and possibly even become more productive when you have a place of peace to begin from.

Your motherboard has firmware to get you to a point where you can boot, and you cannot hurt that by fornatting a drive.So if you just take the SSD/hard drive you're using now out of your motherboard and insert a new one, then use a USB to load Linux onto it, you absolutely will not lose or break anything; you just might have to retry a few times until you get that new drive set up. Then you repartition to dual-boot Windows and again, the worst thing that can happen is you lose your new linux distro and fail to get Windows, while the SSD containing everything important to you sits on a table somewhere safe.
