Without it, none of us would be alive. Avoiding danger is obviously a good evolutionary trait to have. Bravery is what we call it when someone feels fear but overcomes it for some greater good.Fearlessness is different. It means you lack the evolutionary trait that lets you understand the danger you might be in. You aren’t like a scared rabbit, it’s true—a rabbit is much smarter than you are. Instead, you are a Dodo Bird. Something that evolved with no fear because it had no natural predators, and was easily wiped out when danger arrived. This is not a virtue. There’s a reason why you’ll never see someone run into a burning building to save a baby while looking smug like this, secure in the belief that there’s no danger to you.
