When was the last time anyone even had a chance to shoot one down that wasn't decades behind us in tech still using cold war era stuff?2) The F-35 is a money hungry sink. Its very good at what it does, but it basically requires severe maintenance that can take it out of the sky for weeks to months every time it flies. Its not actually suitable for prolonged engagements, they made a plane so high performance that it breaks itself constantly (which, conveniently, requires proprietary parts that the USA has to keep order to get their planes back in the air).What this means is that if you keep sending the same plane up again and again without shelving it for maintenance, its going to get worse and become more likely to fail on you. We don't have details, but its entirely possible that this F-35 got hit because it wasn't able to operate at full capacity, simply because we sent it up in the air more than once or twice without giving it a month for repairs.
Damn, only 499 left. Plus another few hundred belonging to the rest of NATO. They totally got us back for wiping out their entire military again.
