Why are they thinking the islands will save them. They cant stop every missle fired from the massive sized area that can attack the ships in the straight. Meaning that China is now in charge of who gets to go through it. Even if they stop Iran production which they wont. China will just send assembled or closer to assembled weapons. Even if the US succeed in taking the islands and trump tries to desperately cling to them, the iranians will just go full Samson option and obliterate Kharg, and obliterate any refineries/desalination plants left in the region that will cause decades long damage and inflict thousands of zogbot casualties.
