I don't really get the appeal of driving everywhere, the whole individualism angle feels like a larp. Cars are just a means to get to point A to point B for me 99.9% of the time and I'm not actually that picky as to how I get there. If I had tried to take a bus to eliminate the extra 1/2 mile of walking, it would have taken an extra 30 minutes, if the bus was even running.

I live in a major city likely within the top 10 or top 5 US cities for public transit use. Plenty of people within the city have yo take buses out to the suburbs for jobs. Those buses run every hour or half hour. The buses within the city, even the popular routes routinely run on 10-20 minute frequencies, during peak hours, and can drop to 30 minute frequencies or less during off peak hours, and the buses routinely don’t even show up, because operators don’t dhow up to run the buses. The cost to actually run the most popular routes is usually 2x the bus fare, and can be 4-6x the actual bus fare for the less popular routes.
