He's the only man in history who ever targeted this class in particular. Other Marxist regimes like the Bolsheviks and Maoists were technocratic. They didn't like many of the professionals in power before they themselves took power, but they were glad to let professionals who would switch allegiances go on about their "work" to administer their new socialist states.
