I completed the whole training by reading everything for two days and then achieving the highest score in the simulator for that cohort, that had been previously trained in 2 other MOs for months and then had 10 weeks for becoming JTACs. They don’t let me do the live fire part because of costs but I had to do more than just learn the specialization, I had to also learn basic shit like radio coms and officer candidacy stuff and protocol and use of devices that they are already familiar with. And I still blew them out of the water. I used the minimum corrections on the most complex scenarios in about as short of time as is possible reliably for a several hour test.Fucking 2 days I knocked it out as part of my day job while also writing white papers and completing task analysis and designing an experiment. I had to make scenarios for JTACs so I had to learn it. I was in a doctoral program. This was an extremely disappointing experience for me. I don’t feel that smart. I see my own limitations sharply. But I thought the military was more competent than this. It is not full of America’s best and brightest, it is full of crayon eating retarded brown people that need months of lectures and reading to finish a handful of small books and their capacity for memorization rival’s my 5 year old’s. I guess this is what happens with wholesale corruption at the top, when you can’t pay worth a damn why would competent people that can earn more somewhere else choose to serve? And the US is really married to this false idea that we’re all equally capable and therefore must have equal outcomes.

America made tens of thousands of these cannons in world war 2. It cant do that any more. The industry is gone, the metalworkers are dead. I am not sure that America can even manufacture electronically set time fuzes. Euro examples are Bofors 3p ammo and Oerlikon AHEAD ammon. The fuze is set when the shell is exiting the muzzle. AHEAD ammunition is just old canister ammo, when the timer detonates the fuze, the 35 mm shell opens up and turns into a gigantic shotgun blast. You would need a small radar for fire control and 1-2 shells to shoot down one of these shaheed drones. America cannot manufacture this low end solution any more. The cheapest they could do was a laser guided 70 mm rocket, not a beam rider but a laser spot reflection tracker. Only about $20-25 K per shot. Missiles are way harder to intercept than drones, it seems that Raytheon underestimated the need for lateral manuverablity for their pac-3s so they cant turn fast enough to keep up with a warhead that comes in at mach7 and does a slow 3D spiral turn. The gigabrain jews in Israel did the same mistake too. They thought airmanuverable warheads would come in on a straight almost pure ballistic track.

I've seen the same phenomen in Sweden, the ignorant shit I read from the people that should know best is eyerolling. It implies that the US officer corps is as incompetent as the swedish, which isnt a good sign if you are enlisted. Let me give you an example. Some senior guy at the academy wrote that Sweden should go back to L/39 howitzers because they have a shorter minimum indirect fire distance (because lower muzzle velocity so steeper rifling). I was like "what? doesnt this guy understand that if you park your howitzer within drone range, its going to be dead in an hour? Thats why range is king in Ukraine". No he didnt understand because he cant think in abstract terms. Turns out that very few people can think in "what....if" terms. Also, range is a function of ballistics and you can easily modify your shells so that your L/52 howitzers have the same minimum range as a L/39 howitzer. I mean, thats basic engineering knowledge. But this guy was a liberal arts major that could tell you everything about strategy and tactics in world war 1 or something. No relevance to modern warfare. F.ex Sweden just invested money in a self propelled mortar system on CV90 hulls. it uses two muzzle loaded mortars with the first muzzle auto loader I have ever seen. Its max range with regular ammo is 6 km and with rocket assisted ammo its 9 km. It cant do direct fire. The "turret" is a hand cranked casemate. That shit isnt going to do well in the front zone. Can you guess what? The Dutch bought some. These people are stuck in the 1980s and the fulda gap. This is just wasted money and man hours. There were not packet based wireless mesh networks in the 1980s. There were not robot aircraft livestreaming the entire front line in the 1980s. Precision guided muntions were exotic weapon systems in the 1980s. Today they are ubiquitous.
