What is it about the West that makes them automatically qualified to own nuclear weapons while others aren't allowed to? The answer is obviously that they see it as a personal threat to them, but then why is it not a perceived threat by other nations for the West (especially the US) to have nuclear weapons? Why do we get a special exception?

We live in basically the same world order that prevailed after WW2 ended, hence the UN Security Council. Nuclear weapons and an intercontinental ballistic missile delivery are the only way to have real sovereignty, and the existing nuclear nations don't like their hegemonies being challenged.
