I think Christ is with those who suffer and mourn, in the sense of His common grace; in this sense, Christianity is universal, like a religious gravity.but in terms of salvation, unless you receive faith like a child with nothing to offer by your works - unless you are born again by the Holy Spirit indwelling you - you cannot see the kingdom of God.I think salvation as a process, where the most pious or sanctified always find reasons to doubt their salvation, is just as valid as the more single minded warrior for whom God is a constant foundation that disambiguates everything, starting with their salvation, made continuous and alive in faith and practice, by the effective Grace of God.Grace is a more abstract mechanism of how the Holy Spirit interacts with us creatures returning to God in faith and repentance, rather than something more specific like God's energies or any specific doctrine & complete explication of salvation. If you doubt your salvation, know that this is how God can keep us humble; Job was perfect and upright, and God allowed satan to destroy his property and all his kids, ultimately to bless him in a realized way.
