Biden had much lower rates from 2021 to 2023, which corresponds nicely to OP's chart. 2023 was huge in that the federal funds rate jumped from around .5% near the beginning to 5% by the end of the year. AI was big back then, but honestly, I think it's going to bust. This year, Facebook's stock and Oracle's stock both tanked a decent amount when their companies said they were going into deep debt for AI plans. Back then (2021-2024), that might have boosted their stock, but investors (including large institutional ones) are really coming around to the idea that AI might flop. If it does flop, we'll have a lot of empty data centers that are currently being built, but hiring and jobs numbers may recover if it does flop. I think an interesting and maybe best case future would be that AI usage in LLMs and agentic AI crashes, but that AI use in robotics takes off and I get me a programmable waifu sexbot
