>>531276262The petrodollar exists for exporting oil to countries with weak currencies, it was mostly set up for Europe's benefit initially so they could wean off Russian oil. Petrodollars cycle outside of the US economy so the USD doesn't devalue, it's not a domestic apparatus so there's no reason the average person in the US should know anything about it since it affects the rest of the world more than the US. Tariffs are just a way to throttle imports, most things that countries import aren't even needed and function off bilateral trade agreements. The system operates more or less mechanically now there's very little human input calculus is a force of nature.
