Why would they? Automakers don't make any money on 20 year old cars hence no incentive. And obviously the consumer doesn't care about reliability evidently based on the fact stellantis still sells cars.
Cars can last, my shithole is full of old cars. It's just that newer cars feel better and also make you look like a non-poor person, which is important to a lot of people, so they upgrade when they can.
