I think most Americans are still confused "Is this a war?". I'm still confused if this is a war myself, or if it'll fizzle out in a few weeks. America randomly bombs some country several times a year - we don't consider these wars. I would say as soon as boots are on the ground, most Americans will begin to equate it as a full war, and protest will be a lot more prominent.
