The smartest jeets (and most other nons) are also usually like this, and can also be very competent if their job doesn't involve creative reasoning. The other common manifestation of the striver phenomenon is bluffing; Lying to cover for previous lies, doing everything they can to dump responsibilities onto coworkers or subordinates and most importantly, doing everything in their power to avoid taking responsibility by pinning it on someone else. These types are what you get when the striver isn't smart enough, and it's rampant even in ostensibly highly intelligent nations like China, as the vast majority of the population is still at or below the western average and therefore create the same nonwhite social norms.

It's the exact same mechanism behind cancer, and will turn your society into an inefficient shithole if there are no barriers to discourage it.I theorize that both striverism and jewing are emergent behaviors in all high population density environment, since maintaining a reputation becomes much less important for survival when you can just go to the next village or town and scam them too. A large part why the descendants of the most advanced ancient civilizations are so irrelevant today is because they have been evolutionarily selected for these traits until the state was reduced into a way for whoever controlled it to siphon money into their personal bank account.
