"Working class" stops being working class, once they retire. Pensioners are essentially capitalists - they no longer work for money. That is why countries with high percentage of pensioners vote for importing more workers from abroad (including my own country).

Good point about home ownership. Another thing - even small business owners benefit from immigration - because they hire people and use their work for profit. Essentially, it is about who benefits and who does not - and if 51% benefits in democracy, it is going to happen. Young workers without property are the loosers of immigration, but they are a minority.
