It was because the laptop uses a secondary, weak GPU when on battery power, and only uses the big guy when it's plugged in. The computer forced an update while unplugged, overnight, and just forgot about the main GPU. And this shit just keeps getting worse. Windows gets worse with every update and it's honestly impressive. You'd think it would be good at least sometimes, kinda like how a broken clock is right twice a day, but no.
