NATO was not consulted before the war started or asked for help. Europe has little in the way of a navy (embarrassing, I know.) and cannot contribute much yet is blamed for the closure of the Hormuz strait? There was some reluctance in allowing the use of airbases but it was solved except for Spain, they have chosen to be cunty about it. (Look up why Italy had some qualms, interesting affair from the Reagan era.) I don't feel the amount of criticism we get from Trump and co are fair this time.
