3D printed houses are promising, but the technology isn't there yet.

You see how big those adobe bricks are
A house with 18 inch thick walls is well insulated against the weather so it is easy to keep warm in winter and easy to keep cool in summer, and the outside is grouted or sprayed with shotcrete so it will be waterproof

I would love to have an adobe house with terracotta roof on it, hell of a lot better than a wood frame house

Instead of buying several tons of bondo to coat the exterior, and interior of your house made of literal mud, why not just build it from any of the widely available, durable, cheap, and less labor intensive options?

Depends on the mix and not as much as you might think when done correctly, but you missed the part about adaptive density and reinforcement. The foam/aeration is to increase the R value, sound dampening and, to decrease the weight and cost. Similar in principal to picrel. If done correctly it would be fully structurally sound, but with added benefits.

They’re common in Arab countries with dry weather like yemen and Egypt, known to age much better than concrete and naturally cool and warm the house, also withstand earthquakes better.

That picture was taken 10, 15 years after the war. If taht happened in your shithoel, you would still be living in tents. Oh wait, you do.

Anyways, those houses have all been torn down decades ago. They were literally built from the remains of bombed out houses, ground up and used as cement and cinders.

I would have serious doubts about the compressive strength of that picture or foam and aerated concrete, so the weight reduction would have to be extraordinary for it to be able to withstand its own weight.
Open to the idea, but definitely having doubts about longevity.
Just ask the Irish and their experience with experimental concrete.

Construction costs have nothing to do with the final cost of housing in most of the Western world. Especially in the US.
The supply is artificially constricted by banks printing trillions to buy it all up and regulations preventing competition.

These construction companies make incredibly fat profit margins regardless.
>>

The last time I remember someone building their own home out of bricks without permission, they shot and killed the person who kicked him out of his illegal settlement. I mean, this is the main issue, too many steps to build your own shit, it should be done legally yes, but how many people do you really need to know, bother and pay a fee etc. to build a fucking house; literal cavemen just started a fire and picked a cave to live in, now you need a damn license to burn a lump of clay into a brick and don't even think about putting it into a house, you could be arrested.

Bad idea, in this lame shithole everybody is building their own houses as its basically allowed by law given a few years pass, no permits no anything
its also quite bit cheaper to build your own house than an apartment in the major cities, you get some mouthbreathers from the third world to do all the work for next to nothing, and the designs are pretty standarised.
