Is it possible to sue a public transportation agency for discriminating against people who don't carry cell phones with them outside?So I've noticed that here in Los Angeles county, these "Throne" toilet are popping up at many Metro stations. The problem is that they only open the door if you use a smartphone app, text message on a dumbphone. They are equipped with technology to open using a card similar to the kind we use to pay fares, but after reaching out to both Throne and Metro, they say that these require the use of a phone and there are no plans to distribute "Throne cards" like they do in other cities in which Throne operates. If Throne is a private company, and Metro is paying for their services, this is literally privatizing public toilets and restricting access to the technology-dependent. Metro has been sued before for cancelling buses in low income neighborhoods and racial profiling for fare enforcement, so I'm sure it's possible. The purpose would be to force Metro and Throne to come to an agreement to provide phoneless access cards upon request, or to place regular potable toilets alongside wherever these are installed so there is a just alternative. Who do I contact to file a class-action lawsuit though? Yeah, I do have a smartphone, but often just don't bring it with me everywhere I go, feels like a brick in my pocket when dressed lightly and carrying no bags.
