I think you’re overestimating the Turks. They don’t have quality military hardware and the morale of majority of their citizens are completely shot. Hell if there were a war tomorrow most Turks would jump ship. This is what happens when you treat your citizens like shit for years and years. Not to mention the corruption. The corruption in Turkey with its politicians and business people is downright disgusting.

The US government made the same mistake in Iran. Hating the government and abandoning your homeland are two completely different things. While some people would certainly flee, in the event of an invasio, even most Turks would be surprised to see exactly who steps up to defend the country. Americans and other people from the New World often don't truly understand the concept of a "nation". There is also a legacy of the whole europe vs us mentality.
