Current Iranian leaders like Khamenei are known to be extremely frugal in their personal lives regardless of their politics. The Pahlavis couldnt even do that. While Iranians were suffering from the oil shock the Shah lived in a lavish European style palace and owned 25 percent of Germanys Krupp. The wealth gap became unbearable. Iranians exploded because their emperor was hoarding wealth in a golden palace while they starved. If the Pahlavi dynasty had been frugal and less corrupt he might still be on the throne today. As it stands restoring the Pahlavi throne is a delusional fantasy that will never happen.
