Barring an actual elite instigated conflict; only something which explicitly threatens the foundations of society would start conflict or inspire a reshaping of American life. Organic resistance was met with widespread condemnation and ridicule with Charlottesville and the aftermath of the Alt Right, and Occupy was thoroughly quelled and the Left was swamped with race and sex politics. The only thing that could galvanize the people or shake up the situation would be interruption of supply lines, organic foreign attack, abject economic failure, or otherwise.
