It's funny how many Japanese words are just Japanified version of English words
>powerful is pawafuru
>romance is romansu
>wonderful is wandafuru
>miracle is mirakuru
>volleyball is barēbōru
Basically you just change L to R, add an extra vowel at the end, and you already know half the Japanese language.

Many of those words are actually Dutch loanwords from the time when only Netherlands were allowed to trade with Japan. And many Dutch words look similar to English words because they're both West-Germanic languages

Gemination (doubling) of certain consonants in borrowings is interesting
>>

They're called loan words, and we have fuck tons in English that are from French and Greek.
>>
>>532231574
You should give up some of your constantents for some of their vowels.

Why did you think this non-revelation deserved a thread, you stupid fuck?

Did the Japanese legitimately not have their own word for table? What causes this?
>>
>>532228979
My favorite is アルバイト. It's the most red pilled Japanese loan word.
>>
>>532232454
They didn't have tables at all. Japanese "tables" are not like Western tables.
>>
>>532232454
The Japanese basically didn't have tables and chairs until Europeans introduced them.

This would be an argument if it was for newer words like computer, not pic related.
Japs are just language cucks and soon their whole ranguage wirru soundu riku dissu.
Chinese and Korean also didn't have the same type of things like Japan and still has their own words.

I guess it just replaced the former word. Like Old English had the concept and term for pig-meat, but the word pork stuck.
Chinese has 桌(子) for table, but the character seems to mean box/chest in Japanese now.

Not really, it's just how loan words work. I mean, I guess it is funny in a way. I am not trying to shit on your discovery or steal your joy or anything.

English language changed cause the elite after William the Conqueror were French and thus implemented French words, then it morphed slowly over time and poorer strata started adopting it cause it gives off an more educated look while the native word ended up being for poor uneducated people.

The japs case however was literally just "engrish kooru kakkoii!" by teenagers or some other retards, it's not even comparable.

They sat and ate off the floor like animals

The English language is a good example of hybrid vigor. Germanic languages sound terrible.

you mean exactly like the educated Japanese studied Rangaku and used Dutch words for things?

English is a raped language. The French, Germanic and Nordic loan words were forced onto the British
>>
>>532233712
There is a different between being conquered by foreigners and over many hundreds of years the conquerors words being adopted vs importing and immediately replacing your own native words because foreign sounds cool and exotic.
Old japanese grandmas & pas are probably internally cringing whenever a zoomer says chikin.
