Maybe he might have lived for another 5 years or something, but his life was pretty much over and he got to live a full one.Its not the fact he died that is why he won, but how he died. He got to die a martyr and in a religion that praises martyrdom. Otherwise he was just going to pass away quietly and be forgotten. Usually martyrs die young and don't get to live a full life, but he got to have his cake and eat it too.Putting religion aside, this also has immortalized him as a national hero in Iranian history. If he had died quietly of old age he would just be a footnote in history, but because he died heroically resisting U.S. Imperialism its kinda like Iran's version of the Alamo or something, you know?Its a win-win from his perspective.
