>moon rocket in 1960s: white>moon rocket in 2020s: brownmere cohencidence?
Why didnt they cover it in sponsor logos to cut costs? Are they stupid?
>>532266245Its insulation foam. Painting it will just add dead weight
>>532266373sure it is... Its fucking rust anmd looks like shit, more fake and gayness
>>532266322it's heat shielding for reentry, which wasn't a factor in the 1960s
>>532266245They had to scrape off the paint in order to reduce the weight because one of the passengers have a fat ass.
>>532266476this makes mroe sense
>>532266245Because it's made out of leftover shuttle parts. Not joking.
>>532266245The orange coating is urethane foam insulation. It turns orange after a while. It’s to stop the liquid hydrogen heating up. If it does it will begin to boil and threaten the rocket tank integrity. Earlier rockets like the Apollo Saturn V. Used a Kerosene and liquid-oxygen mix. The kerosene didn’t need to be cooled. And the liquid oxygen had internal insulation. This causes the ice buildup the outside of the liquid oxygen tank on the Saturn V falling away you can see on launch.
