what's stopping newsom from passing an executive order on day 1 of his presidency that
>suspends presidential immunity, habeas corpus, due process, etc. specific to trump and his family
>immediately imprisons trump and his family and sentences them to capital punishment
>ignores all injunctions and protests from federal courts and the supreme court
>>

Better to do it in ‘27.
>impeach on TV
>execute on TV
All doable by Feb. ‘27.

>ignores all injunctions and protests from federal courts and the supreme court
thanks for pointing this out, anon. it was a real tough one to circumnavigate, but i think newsom's approach is solid.

because someone can do the same to him and other people who are in power currently and will remain in power when the presidency switches hands (democracy is a sham, the real rulers don't change regardless of who the mascot aka president is)

(((they))) don't want to set a precedent where they can actually get punished for crimes

trump is an outlier in that most presidents within living memory did not declare illegal wars, abuse executive orders, ignore supreme court rulings on those executive orders -- because they understood what you are pointing out.
>>
>>532269497

nixon bombed 2 countries we werent at war with. obama did the same. they all abuse eos and break the law. thye're all war criminals.

First, fifth, fourteenth amendment. Also, executive orders are directives to federal agencies. They cannot create new crimes, establish new penalties like capital punishment, or override federal statutes passed by Congress. Also, it's the Judiciary that interprets laws, not the President. Finally, the president doesn't currently have within their power to suspend immunity. That's something the supreme court does. My only question is: how come you don't know any of this, mutant? Isn't the US your country? Or are you, in fact, a VPN-goblin parading as a mutant? That's sort of funny when I think about it. A step up for you, no doubt.

>ignores the judiciary
what recourse is there?
>>
>>532271473
Judge would probably hold the president in contempt. If they think they can't do so, they will target cabinet members that carried out the orders. It should be Federal Marshals carrying out the order, but since they're part of the DoJ, there's a conflict. Congress can defund the president's attempts of course, but that supposes they're agreeing with the court. Finally, there's impeachment, I suppose. 10 years ago, I would have argued that a president trying to use executive this way would be on a short track to fuck-off-istan. Nixon for example tried to pull this shit back in the day, but he was ejected promptly and hilariously. But now? I don't know. In OP's case, it would depend on what support Newsom has in Congress. No system is immune to corruption.

his own cowardice
>>
>>532271719
>Judge would probably hold the president in contempt.
on what grounds? the president acted in an official capacity.
>>
>>532268882
Obama and biden would be on the chopping block. Then the next president will go after newscum and reverse the order Before he leaves office
>>
>>532271828
On the grounds of willful disobedience of a clear and unambiguous court order. The president is legally obligated to follow the court's decision. I.e the president doesn't have the authority to decide the court is wrong and ignore it.
>>
>>532271828
while that can be debated, they would certainly arrest anyone who carried out the order. and with pretty near certainty would be impeached and removed immediately.
>but what if he just refuses to leave
then that would get interesting
>>
>>532272055
I am not super well read on American history, but that hasn't happened before, has it?
>>
>>532272120
not in that exact scenario, but the civil war would be close. and maybe a few things in vietnam. but presidents have only ever been impeached for stupidly political things that Congress had contorted into major crimes.
>>
>>532268882
The fact that America is a uniparty and that political targeting is theater in the same way Trump never went after Hillary
>>
>>532268882
Optimistic of you to think Dems will ever run a white man again.
>>
>>532272027
> The president is legally obligated to follow the court's decision.
the supreme court ruled against trump's tariffs. trump openly stated he would ignore the ruling and he is, in fact, ignoring the ruling.

Why did they exile Napoleon?
Thats a dumb move from a leader
>>
in normal countries a sitting a pm or president would be arrested by the local police force
>>
>>532277799
I don't think there's really normal procedure for that, how often are heads of state getting arrested?
>>
>>532268882

Trump will pardon himself and everyone he knows on his way out. The same way Biden did. Justices wont let them be over rules.
>>
>>532278031

Also why would any president want to undermine the presidential pardon.
>>
>>532277896
the procedure is as normal as arresting someone for gbh or theft. But for some reason your country needs 66% of a governmental body that may or may not owe it's job to the accused, to agree that what they did was a crime.
>>
>>532278232
I mean u agree with what your country has deemed a crime? Lel
>>
>>532268882
Because he would be creating a precedent for himself, the same reason why Trump didn't jail Biden or Obama after taking power.
>>
>>532278367
for the most part sure, but your president hasn't offended a minority or recused their child from islamic appreciation week at school.
>>
>>532268882
Might makes right. If the Dems ever manage to regain power, they absolutely should do whatever they want, regardless of the legality. You can always just fire and imprison anyone investigating you.
>>
>>532268929
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>
>>532274085
What the fuck are you on about mutant? The US administration is currently complying with the court order. They terminated the IEEPA-based tariffs on February 24th. Trump then filed a new set of tariffs under section 122 of the 1974 trade act, which would last 150 days. The supreme court ruling did not affect all tariffs either, that's probably why you're being an imbecile right now.
