So 30 years is roughly a million dollars especially when they markets and other sorts of incomes working in their favor as well. We are underwater right now when they were simply gaining wealth at our age. We never got that first house and corporate job with a 401k. Add to that 30 years of pension and SS. My boomer parents are giving me money for free, without prompting, since I'm short on it due to having been willfully unemployed due to being sick of paying the IRS, but being too big a pussy to just not pay. I was arrested after intentionally breaking concealed carry laws in my state and have been fighting the charges for a year, but the police violated a bunch of my rights so a lawsuit is coming and it might end up resulting in a big pay out. Despite this, my parents argue that social security is necessary so the elderly can be taken care of by the next generation. They also believe Israel has a right to wipe out Gaza and that Hegseth is ushering in the second coming of Christ by protecting Israel long enough to build the 3rd temple. They're Christians and conservative and I'm Christian and conservative, we couldn't see Israel differently. We don't agree on Iran and they keep telling me to take a plea deal rather than continue fighting the state over the unconstitutional law...a law they agree is unconstitutional! Are boomers mind broken and were the generation trying to wrestle power from their arthritic fingers? I don't understand their minds. Maybe they don't understand their minds. They watched the government remove silver from our coinage and yet they still brag about the value of their 401k, but at least mine are financially helping me at 34, very different than when I was 18 and they were expecting me to work to pay for community college.

The fucked up part is I had 2 “jobs” at this time, 2 sources of income, that I could choose my own hours and operate all on my own, and they wanted me to get a 9-5 because “it feels like I’m not working”. Holy fuck. I always think about how the boomers essentially have their kids born on a desert island. Like they have giant airships and wealth and technology and they drop their kids off on a desert island and say “good luck”. This combined with the “if you’re a neet I pay for everything, if you have a job you’re on your own and can pay all the bills. It’s literally easier to just leech off them and not work, and nobody should feel bad for doing that.
