I went to school in NJ and my parents would take me on vacation always, usually 1-2 times a year for a week and the school would always send letters about how this was unacceptable without a legitimate reason or whatnot, but nothing came of it otherwise. I think it stems from some law that stipulates kids must be in school for 180 days a year, at least in this state, and if we had lots of snowdays they'd extend our last day of school quite far out, one year we didnt even get out till like june 17th or 27th or something crazy.What really blew my mind though is my friend's ex-fiance/wife said that she played hooky/skipped all of her junior year in high school.
