>>532305508you're not wrong. they have built some things that represent their indigenous culture. but yes they largely built international zones. whatever your thoughts on dubai, it's without question they built a new global city out of the desert in pretty much 30 years. they took huge risks and a lot of them paid out well. the uae today is highly developed in terms of infrastructure, health, etc. They are a hub for trade, tourism, finance, tech, industry, shopping, aviation, etc. Does it compare to Europe, which has been developed and cultivated and shaped over thousands of years? absolutely not. but the gulf region is something interesting that I reckon warrants a visit of at least a week or two. Maybe a cruise would be the best way to do it.
