Poland is a nation consequential to a degree unmatched by the vast majority of nations, for example easily surpassing Israel, the state founded in 1948. And taking Jews as a whole into account, only matched or surpassed by them because of their role in the creation of Christianity. It's shocking how different the world would've been if not for the sheer spirit of these seemingly average people inhabiting a seemingly unimportant chunk of flatlands situated just off the center of Europe.Poland can be considered the world's savior, and by the world I mean the best civilization in history, the Western civilization, the Christian civilization, European culture, solely responsible for reducing global human suffering to a record minimum.Unlike many, I'll list examples counter-chronologically, starting from the most recent and most impactful for our standing right now, to the earliest relevant example.Let me preface: if not for Poland, Ukraine would've fallen in 2022 and the "multipolar world" that the New Axis of Evil yearned for would've become a reality. So Poland changed (and saved) the world substantially, even very recently.>1980-1989If not for Poland, the anti-human communist regimes wouldn't have fallen. The Eastern Bloc wouldn't have fallen apart and the Soviet Union wouldn't have collapsed. You should know the USSR started bracing for transformation as early as 1976. Brezhnev suffered his debilitating second stroke in January 1976 and Mao Zedong died in September 1976. The KGB started to take full control over the USSR and the entire Bloc, aiming to render internal politics of the USSR and all other Bloc nations completely fake and scripted at Lubyanka. In 1978, Deng Xiaoping took over in China and started his reforms. Back then, the regimes followed cycles of repression and relaxation. In our reality, Gorbachev was really a response to the 1980-1981 crisis in Poland and the 1981-1983 martial law in Poland, which all demanded a relaxation of sorts.
Without Poland, or if we imagine Poland inactive and passive, Gorbachev would've still come, but this time fully focused on meaningful reform in the Dengist vein, unhampered by paranoia of Poland going loose and the entire system collapsing. In our reality, Russia only freed prices on 1 January 1992 (resulting in hyperinflation and a greater shock than if they had done so gradually, and earlier). Poland partially freed prices in 1988 and fully on 1 August 1989. China fully freed prices in 1985, having had a substantial gray economy with freed prices since 1978 (it resulted in inflation too, this was the major and overlooked reason for the 1989 protests in China which were nationwide and not just at Tiananmen Square btw).Without Poland, or if we imagine Poland inactive and passive, the USSR would've implemented Dengist reforms earlier and more thoroughly. In our reality that was the plan too but it was rushed too late, haphazardly and without order and with Poland as the upsetter, so it all fell through. The plan whose goal was for the Soviet Union to resemble modern China. Still an awful, oppressive, authoritiarian shithole with mass surveillance and censorship. It is in this sense that I say Poland destroyed Communism, the Eastern Bloc and the Soviet Union. Without Poland, or if we imagine Poland inactive and passive, what I've just written above would be our reality.

BONUS POINT>1978St. John Paul II the Great was elected Pope. This is important for the 1 billion Catholics worldwide. Prior to John Paul II, the Vatican was on the verge of being overthrown by Communist infiltrators sponsored by the KGB. Prior to John Paul II, the popes were weak and unable to rein in movements like the Liberation theology movement in South America. This was all in the context of Vatican II initiated in 1962. This was a time of the deepest crisis in modern Church history, with the so-called modernist heresy getting really close to legitimacy. Under John Paul II, the current Code of Canon Law (essentially the Catholic Church's constitution) was promulgated, replacing the outdated 1917 code (which predated Vatican II and even the Lateran treaty). Most importantly, the first universal catechism since the Council of Trent in the 1500s, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, was published in 1992, a list of all the Church tenets, values and immovable limits.Sadly, since Francis, the modernist heresy has spread widely again, with a near-mutiny of pro-LGBT bishops in Germany and Belgium. Some even talk of a schism. Here's hoping Leo will reassert his authority basing on the teachings of the Catechism
>1939-1944Poland's contribution to WW2 is underrated. In fact without Poland, or if we imagine Poland inactive and passive, WW2 would've had a trajectory so different it might not even have been called WW2 with all that we associate with it.Let's start with the fact that there was a real possibility it would've just been a local German-Polish war, and not a world war. That this local German-Polish conflict escalated to world war in 1939 was Poland's very calculated goal and success. Being the first to stand up to Hitler. On 31 December 1932, in the middle of the crucial transition from republic to dictatorship in Germany, Poland broke the Enigma code and from that point on had access to ALL secret German communications in transmissions that they managed to capture (which wasn't so hard in itself), all the way to the breakout of warAFAIK Poland had communicated this advantage and shared some info with France already in 1937-1938, and handed over all the information and the "bomba" tech to Britain and France in 1939 (which is what Turing built off of, he basically only stacked the bombas meeting the need for increased processing power to break the improved second version of Enigma which rolled out in 1939 in response to Poland's breaking it)Poland had the largest united resistance movement in WW2 and also the most consequential one, from Wikipedia:>The Polish resistance is notable among others for disrupting German supply lines to the Eastern Front (damaging or destroying 1/8 of all rail transports), and providing intelligence reports to the British intelligence agencies (providing 43% of all reports from occupied Europe).Looking at this from another perspective: an Axis Poland would've likely secured victory for Hitler. In Dec 1941, the Germans were short of just 5 divisions and around 100-200 tanks, while the Polish army had 50-60 divisions and could produce 1000-1500 tanks by 1941, which would sway the balance on the Eastern front and secure victory.
I'm planning to move to southern Poland
>1920Poland saved the world from Bolshevism for the first time. Lenin stated: "over the dead body of White Poland lies the way to world revolution." If they had succeeded at turning the newly independent Poland into a Polish SSR within the Soviet Union, there would've been Soviet troops on the German border ready to link up with the troops of the Bavarian Soviet Republic, and then go onward to France.Even in Britain at the time the popular mood was pro-Soviet, with dockers literally blocking arms transports to Poland.>1683Poland saved Christendom when King John III Sobieski's largest cavalry charge in history broke the Ottoman siege of Vienna. The Ottoman army involved in the campaign numbered up to 300,000, which was a figure large enough to both successfully besiege and storm Vienna's garrison & hold off the German infantry which assembled nearby. Comfortably stuck in internal arguments on the outskirts of Vienna, the Ottoman camp was routed when the Winged Hussars arrivedSay "thank you Poland." It's the least you could do
