Why are boomers so obsessed with work?

I had beers with my uncles tonight and all they talked about was work. Literally two hours of yapping about present and past work "yep, we got 10 bucks a day for mowing lawns"... "heh, can retire soon, only a few more years". All it was, was talk about work for a few hours until the lite beer got em buzzed and then it switched to politics, by then they were tired and wanted to go home and to bed.

because we evolved on the internet with lots of additional quirky info to fill the void of our minds

their life was much more plain dumb and simple. Not particulary bad compared with us perse but theyre sometimes just outright stupid and theres been a paradigm shift in intelligence.

also 10 a day is not bad if a drink is 5c
>>
Men of a certain age were pretty discouraged from having any sort of identity or hobbies outside of work. Yeah, there are a lot of boomer hobbies like boating or watching sportsball, but the reality is that most men above age 60 have no personality outside of screwing over younger generations.

Because talking about work is the best way to gauge peoples political beliefs
We live in an era where we have to walk of glass when talking about anything, but talking about work helps us guess what people believe without anyone getting offended
>Working too much/not enough
>No jobs because of immigrants
>Not paid enough
>Corpos stealing money
>Corpos harming citizens for a quick buck
>Corpos participating in the Scamdemic
etc
>>
society has no room for error anymore and you must confirm to late stage capatilism enslavement nowadays

life doesnt soothe the soul anymore
>>
It’s all they have. They’re selfish so the thing they prioritize above all is viewing themselves as accomplished people, and since they never actually did anything, created anything, achieved anything, learned anything, acquired any wisdom, or even developed an organic coherent worldview of their own, the only thing they have left to stake their legitimacy on is a lifetime of “work”. It’s also how they justify the enormous excess they have in the face of their own children struggling. It’s easier to say “well I worked for it so I deserve it (you didn’t and so you don’t deserve anything) than it is to say “I got lucky and now I’m being stingy”. It’s a way to feel better about their incredible selfishness.

what else does a slave have to talk about?
>>
I guess it's just small talk. idk what else they would talk about, no one is really close. not much else going on

They feared their wives and they saw their own kids as competition.
For them technology is uncomfortable because it really should make the jobs easier and shorter but the boomer boss needs to see you sit in your chair for hours or else his ego is hurt. Once people saw how superior remote job is it was over for plenty of boomer bosses.
It doesn't help boomers being so cowards, instead of being so obsessed with Jimmy's boring life they should just use the free time to bang some hot secretary but again, these were replaced by Human Resources ugly feminist bosses so

>"yep, we got 10 bucks a day for mowing lawns"
this says it all
they're obsessed with work because work has rewarded them all their lives, and even better, now they can pretend like they worked harder for less than modern young men by pretending inflation doesnt exist or isnt that bad. they cant stop indulging in the fantasy that they deserved to have lived the best lives of any generation in the history of mankind while their sons deserve to toil in shit and piss in hell
>>
>>532422701
I think it makes them feel tough like they earned the right to shit on every other generation. The problem is they’re also too stupid to realize just how much the world has changed since the summer of 1975. They live inside a financial bubble that insulates them from all the problems younger generations face.

They grew up in a different time, and their brains are wired to that time.
Except for lazy hippies, boomers were working at age 15, and they worked 5-6 days a week, putting in the grind, paying their bills, taking care of business, etc. That's how my parents grew up, and my mom still works because when she doesn't she gets bored.
It is what it is. You're a product of your time period.
>>

One question I’ve always wondered is if the average millennial and younger are wired the same way or if there are genuine differences between previous generations. I kinda feel like younger gens have had to reinvent themselves multiple times and generally keep up with society and technological changes whereas every boomer I know gets stuck in the 80s or 90s.
>>
>>532424885
>boomers were working at age 15
I mean boomers were the ones who didn't want their kids to work sooner. Ask any millennial now and they will tell you they rather learnt a job in their peak over being forced to sit for 6 hours everyday for useless knowledge
>>532424815
Yeah my mother pretends it's okay for kids these days options be either be rich or just suffer and live with niggers. She got mad at me for telling her about boomers.
It's funny because she cried with that case of Noelia Castillo euthanasia when it was boomers the ones refusing to use their money to protect the girl and instead every charo (aka karen in spanish) made sure she lived with rapefugees
>>
>>532425071
For young people technology advanced but it's frustrating because it's not used to improved people's lives at all. They also have to compete with pajeets now
>>
>>532424668
The boomer reaction to remote work sure was telling. I don't know why they hate anything that makes people's lives better.

>I suffered, so you have to as well!
>>
My dad reached retirement age and after 6 months went back to work because he was bored
>>
>>532425071
Gen-Xers seem to have the boomer work thing too, because they followed in the the footsteps of older gens, got a job in highschool, and worked and made a career path. With millennials and zoomers, you had us fall into the college trap a lot more than they did, because boomers and Xers were convinced by the media and culture and schools to prepare their kids for college. All kids in school are told to go to college since the late-80s. They were lied to by the system to send their kids off to college rather than doing what their parents did.

>>532425129
Boomer/X perents didn't want their kids working blue-collar/service jobs. They wanted their kids to get professional careers, and make more money than they did. They didn't know what the scam was, because it wasn't obvious at the time. The scam was designed by marxists in the education system to destroy the white working class of America and indebt their children.

>Why are boomers so obsessed with work?
So they don't have to face up and realize they threw most of their lives away slaving for the elites?
Of course it always helps that homes were selling for seven raspberries back then...
>>
>>532422701
Their whole lives work has offered rewards that made the proposition a valuable one. The longer they've continued to work the greater that value proposition became, and the less work they have had to do. They will never understand working full time and not being able to afford shit.
