Why are boomers so obsessed with work? I had beers with my uncles tonight and all they talked about was work. Literally two hours of yapping about present and past work "yep, we got 10 bucks a day for mowing lawns"... "heh, can retire soon, only a few more years". All it was, was talk about work for a few hours until the lite beer got em buzzed and then it switched to politics, by then they were tired and wanted to go home and to bed.
because we evolved on the internet with lots of additional quirky info to fill the void of our mindstheir life was much more plain dumb and simple. Not particulary bad compared with us perse but theyre sometimes just outright stupid and theres been a paradigm shift in intelligence.also 10 a day is not bad if a drink is 5c
Men of a certain age were pretty discouraged from having any sort of identity or hobbies outside of work. Yeah, there are a lot of boomer hobbies like boating or watching sportsball, but the reality is that most men above age 60 have no personality outside of screwing over younger generations.

They’re selfish so the thing they prioritize above all is viewing themselves as accomplished people, and since they never actually did anything, created anything, achieved anything, learned anything, acquired any wisdom, or even developed an organic coherent worldview of their own, the only thing they have left to stake their legitimacy on is a lifetime of “work”. It’s also how they justify the enormous excess they have in the face of their own children struggling. It’s easier to say “well I worked for it so I deserve it (you didn’t and so you don’t deserve anything) than it is to say “I got lucky and now I’m being stingy”. It’s a way to feel better about their incredible selfishness.
