This high calorie food security lead to them being larger on average than the food insecure farming communities. The fact they were herders instead of farmers meant they werent spending all day farming but riding with their herds, protecting them from predators and raiders, leading to highly developed warfare capabilities. The need for fresh pastures drove them to move throughout the year, spreading out further and further as their populations grew. Eventually spreading as far as scotland (the uk is where you find the highest percent of yamnaya haplogroups r1a/r1b today) and india and china to the west and suadi arabia in the south. Ukraine does have r1a still, but not as much was north western europe, having a high amount l2a, which comes from neolithic sardinian farmers
