I was expecting a smart and fast paced lifestyle like an Asian London or something touching down in Shanghai. What I was met with shocked my senses. My family didn't even want to leave the hotel. The streets are lined with disease ridden food booths, smog pouring in all directions from vehicles, the horrible sounding language, and my kids got sick from eating the hotel room service. I didn't want them to see dead dogs, and yet they did. It was supposed to be a family friendly vacation and now I fear my kids got changed for life. Those people aren't human.

I took pictures of it and I think filmed it. It’s on an old phone that I need to get repaired (screen cracked) but I could post it here eventually if anyone wants it. Maybe I can sell it to someone. I would have tried to save the little guy but thought I might have gotten arrested or something for trying to intrude on their culture and I didn’t have enough money to offer to buy the dog. On the positive side, the dog likely died quickly because the man hit him in the head with a blunt object and he went down fast. But then again, maybe he was just knocked out and still alive.

Does no one here recognize what's happening in this thread? Early 2010s, China was much more polluted than it is right now, like OP describes. They've cut back a ton on pollution and actually have much better air quality nowadays, but not perfect. Those smoggy days still happen but it's not constant at all like before
