Recently I’ve been hearing the argument that Israeli behavior is proof that the Holocaust was a deliberate program of mass murder. The argument is that only a people that had been subjected to such trauma could perpetrate genocide and torture on the scale we see from the state of Israel. But if this were true then why don’t similarly traumatized ethnicities perpetrate such actions? Why aren’t native Americans going on Indian raids and collecting scalps? The truth is we have evidence of this behavior from Jews long before the Holocaust. The third Jewish revolt against Rome is the most egregious example. It was more of a spontaneous eruption of mass murder than an organized insurrection. They butchered women and children making belts and harnesses from their skin. They had wild animals kill and eat civilians in the coliseums. They almost exterminated the population of the island of Malta and their reign of terror was so bad that it was law for centuries after that any jew who set foot on the island even if shipwrecked would be put to death. When I learned that the stories about skin lampshades and human soap were fabrications I asked myself what kind of people could come up with such horrible lies to tell children. And the answer is it comes from a people who have those horrors in their hearts and wish to do such things to others. Israel is murderous because it is the Jewish state, not for any other reason.
