Welfare should come with required contraceptive use. Even giving out free condoms in poor areas has helped a lot. People like to fuck but they also don't necessarily want kids. They are just very whatever about it. You can’t force everyone on welfare onto hormonal contraceptives due to genetic predispositions and medical conditions raising the risk factor but there’s other contraceptives like the implants. Family Planning and all contraceptives should be free for anyone qualifying for welfare. And we shoukd remove as many steps to getting it as possible because the segment of the population that should use it the most is also the laziest. So interaction cost to get the contraceptive is a big deal. You’d also get a lot of buy in if they just heard about it like “you qualify for a free box of condoms” and it feels like a promotion or sail where they get something for free. Honestly we are creating massive dependent populations with zero guidance. We don't even suggest that they should eat healthy.

Our white luxury lifestyles are now in competition with people who have more efficient practises born of years of poverty combined with modest technological improvements in the last couple hundred years. We have dual income two kid single family house folks- the dream!- competing with houses that have five or six working adults, a grandma who spends all day cooking and a grandpa or two taking care of the domestic situation. They live on rice and beans and require far less monetary input per person per day to maintain the lifestyle. We consider this to be poor living conditions but for them it’s better than anything they could ever have dream of back home. This puts us in a losing position, long run; we patch ourselves up on anti-natalist propaganda that makes us panic about 300k over 20 years as though (a) that’s even the real number, (b) as though that’s such a problem if it is. Let me tell you, kids can be cheap as shit and you don’t have to live brown to do it. Clothes and toys are nearly free if you go second hand. I used cloth diapers for my boys and it was a huge cost and environmental impact savings. The only thing that really costs money is daycare; and that’s only a few years, and really only if you have a bad relationship with your folks and inlaws. You’re supposed to live near them and have them take the kids a day or two a week so your daycare bill is 3 days a week which is much more affordable. It’s all very doable, people, I have many friends who are tradies and make sub 100k and yet manage to have houses and kids- because they prioritize properly and don’t spend it all on vidya and drugs.
