Good luck fighting with the Dene and Inuvialuit. Just like every other port in the Arctic it will be dragged along for 20 years, and by then new technologies will be created and markets will open up in other countries making it economically unfeasible. It's not even a good military investment because its still like 1000 km from the north pole and we don't have icebreakers or subs to park there. Unless industry and the people are willing to invest another 300 billion in LNG infrastructure in a commodity thats becoming increasingly irrelevant like coal, there's no point. Then you still need to deal with permafrost melting and periodically flooding that will fuck up the road or railway.
