It gives them access to all its resources, labour and security without having to take over those territories militarily. You know, the whole reason for both world wars? They have an allied buffer against Russia, resource sharing with France, and up until Brexit ( and still have in practice ) complete unrestricted access to Atlantic without the threat of UK's naval power. Germany has never been more powerful than it is in the current generation. And its only going to get more powerful as it now has full european mandate to arm itself again to become the largest military in the bloc. It's a win-win-win for German strategic future.
