There are many locations like this in USA but the cost to extraction will be substantially higher than the global average. We are already propping up domestic mining by having domestic federal purchases happen at a negotiated rate that is higher than the global average. We will see how far this will take US. I don't think it will be the end of the world, many countries subsidize economic activities, infact it is the norm. However, this isn't the norm for US and it undermines the economic philosophies that many Americans used to tout.
